Why Does My Car Overheat?
Hey there from Pimped Out Cars
| So somebody emailed me and asked, “Why does my car overheat?”
Why does the engine even get hot? Everybody knows from watching oil ads on TV that it is friction. That is just one of the reasons. The other reason some of the the energy from combustion is converted to heat. Actually I think about 70 percent of the energy from combustion of energy is converted to heat. That means that only about 30 percent is converted to energy that used to move that car and power everything else on the car. What does this mean? It means that the car is only 30 percent efficient. Wow, Think of all the wasted energy. So here is a physics question… how do you make the car more efficient? Hmm.. I guess nobody knows the answer to that question and if you can answer that question you will become very wealthy. If you can make the car 100 percent efficient. That means, none of the energy is converted to heat. and you can get the all the parts to move in the engine with no friction Then you will have no need to cool the vehicle with water. So the answer to the question of why does my car overheat? Because it is low on water, or the thermostat is stuck closed or the water pump has failed. These would be the most common answers. |
